Your Day at RoC

A typical event kicks off at 10:00am and lasts until between 4:00pm and 7:00pm; All of the characters participating on the event are given a briefing and then sent on thier way to question, search or fight as needed. It is the job of the characters to achieve the task that has been placed before them and they can often attempt to do this in many different ways.

To make the day come alive for you and your fellow players, a number of experienced players will often be present as crew to help the Referee run the adventure. The crew is there to play all the extras; shop keepers, kings, trolls and even traps and objects! They work with the referee to make the event you are on most memorable, so please be good to your crew.

Before you turn up for an event you need to contact Stephen Canfield by e-mail or on the forums. He will help you select a character to play and talk you through the game, its rules and the game you want to play. At the end of this process you will have a character described on a battleboard, which is used during the event.

Once you have a character you should get a costume together. We do not expect new players to go and spend hundereds of pounds on a stunning suit of plate mail and latex weapons, but some effort is expected and will be rewarded. Have a look at the photos on this site for examples of costume and visit the forum for advice on making and buying good quality and cheap costume. At the very least you will need to invest in some latex weapons, although if you ask in advance we will be able to provide a temporary loan.

An individual or a group can book an event, costs can be found on the Costs page and availability of a date on theCalendar. It is often possible to join other groups by invitation, do not be afraid to introduce yourself we are all friendly and if one event isn't suitable we will direct you to a better choice.

Once the event finishes any treasure you have goes into your battle pack along with notes about your character and anything relevant that happened on the event.

While down the pub you will also be awarded experience based on your actions in the game. You can use the experience to improve and develop your character for future events.
